TLA History

What is a "TLA"? Why, it's a three-letter answer that's tied to a clue, hint, easter egg, and other goodies we stored!

Throughout the conference, people stumbled and found the previous page, similar to the original, to try out sets of TLAs in their mind or what they find within the ARG. We found it super fun and entertaining to see what types of TLAs players wanted to try out.

As a way to archive the ARG, we made an offline version of the app without its restrictions that it had for the conference so that anyone checking this post-mortem can try it out!

Here's a couple fun stats we want to share from our ARG players!

General TLA Data

We had a total of 299 TLAs (we were sad to not reach 300 :c didn't have enough time) that comrpised of main ARG hints, easter eggs, and clues! From all ~200* participating players, we had 2,598 requests collectively throughout the conference. Players found around ~43% of our TLAs, which we would say is pretty good, considering that some of the TLAs were hard because they were random or too hidden. We wished more were found, but are happy with how it came out!

*There were roughly ~200 unique players, but they weren't ALL unique users; some players used multiple devices or usernames. IPs were only tied to device and username, so if someone logs into another device on another service, they can be a new player. With that, someone tried to make the TLA process easier by using a bot to have 100 "users" try out random TLAs. They didn't get very far and we had a couple safeguards to combat it. After all, it would've taken forever to find all combos for 3 million possible TLAs.

Top 5 Players with Most Responses + CORRECT Responses

These players were very active and prominent in the ARG! From one player, they found ~23% of all our TLAs, adding in with all other players finding ~43% of them all! We would say they had a good hit rate of found TLAs compared to their overall attempts, with the high end having a 23% corrects/total (SamC373) and lowest being 16% (Geoff1). Congrats to these players!

Top 5 User Scores!

The top 5 players below have a list of (mostly) correct TLAs they found, with the number of their attempts and how many they got right. Good amount of overlap with one another and some finding on their own!

Still so many TLAs...

We had 299 TLAs and only so many were found. If you want to try out some TLAs for yourself (without cheating!) through looking into the ARG lore, puzzles, or thinking of some at the top of your head, check back to the website and see what you find! Here's a couple freebies to try out above! Thank you for reading the history!
